Introduction
The Avian Behaviour and Ecology Research Group is part of the Department of Zoology at La Trobe University. Members of our group conduct research on the evolutionary biology of birdsthe Zebra Finch in particular. Past research has concentrated on various aspects of Zebra Finch vocalisations and population ecology, as well as recolonization of the Krakatau Archipelago by birds. Our current research is focused on a) using molecular methods to investigate geographic variation and sex allocation, b) the relationships between body mass variation, photoperiod and social rank, c) song learning and song tutor choice, and d) immunology and endocrinology.
